Gradual maturation of the global reefer revolution and its impact on worldwide poverty eradication

One reliable barometric reading on levels of world poverty has been the growth of international reefer markets. While its growth has easily outpaced other sectors, the refrigerated market, be it as containerised plug-in boxes or deployed in conventional bulk-loaded reefer ships, has well-nigh exploded in the last two years, notes a study by the Irish Shipbrokers & Chartering Ltd.

The reason the reefer market is such a bellwether in the area of world poverty eradication is that it is the poorer regions of the world whose produce require such technology to reach and dominate overseas markets.

Problems of men and women serving on the same ships might well be solved by having unisex ships

While it is politically correct to have all races and cultures mixed in a multicultural melange, it violates that old seafaring principle - that ships' crews should panic in the same language.

This is why ships crews have typically been as culturally and linguistically as uniform as they can conveniently be, recognising that this cannot be a hard and fast rule in all circumstances.

Picking through the regulatory jungle makes risk-based assessment to avoid legal snags necessary

Perhaps it is a sad inevitability that the only palliative to ease the pain of a lawyer-infested world is to hire more lawyers - as the only way to minimise harm done by the growth the regulatory state.

Such an inference can be drawn from an article by Munich-based Aneta Klosek, director, trade compliance, LexisNexis Risk Solutions of Atlanta.

Covid crisis provided great benefits to air freight providers while the costs are borne by shippers

The world's air freight industry is looking forward to more of the same as they reckon the Elders of Davos will keep the Covid crisis going to facilitate the Great Reset to reform the world, giving credence if not reverence for every environmental fear that NGOs can imagine.

That is what emerges from a survey of major air freight concerns worldwide conducted by London's Air Cargo News. Not that this is bad news from an air cargo service provider's perspective. Not at all. Shortages of capacity from the continued reduction of passenger volume, means less space for cargo in bellyholds and soaring air freight rates.
